Why Hybrid Workplaces need more Emergency First Aiders

Our working world has changed hugely over the past few years, creating new ways of communicating and expanding the career options for many. Hybrid working has become a phrase we hear a lot, and represents a more balanced approach, allowing for employees to work from home for part of their week. So, it might cross your mind that, with less workers on site in your office space, there might be less need for trained First Aiders on your team...

🚫 NOPE! 🚫 You’ll actually need more...

  • More First Aiders

Having less people on site does not reduce the possibility of accidents happening – but it does reduce the likelihood of there being someone qualified on-site who can help when the unexpected occurs.

If your business has embraced the hybrid working model, it’s likely you will actually need more members of your team trained up as Emergency First Aiders. If you only have a few staff qualified, it’s harder to ensure one of them is in the office at any given time, especially when working with rotating schedules.

By training as many members of your team as possible in Emergency First Aid at Work, you give your staff and your business the best chance of navigating accidents towards happier outcomes. You also build your team’s skillset in ways you might not realise...

Learning First Aid is a major confidence builder. Emergency situations are stressful for all involved, but knowledge is power. When a person is trained in First Aid, they are given the tools to be able to read a situation, to think clearer, and to respond swiftly and calmly.  Much of the stress of a situation can be defused by knowing which steps to take, because it turns the unknown into something more mappable.

The First Aid skills learned for work can also be utilised outside of the workplace, which means your team members can feel more in control of situations that may occur at home or when at leisure.

Remember, it is an employer’s responsibility to ensure that there are adequate and appropriate equipment, facilities, and personnel available to assist a casualty.  If you need to train up more of your team to ensure you always have a First Aider on-site, we can help.

We run an Emergency First Aid at Work training course, to ensure you have the opportunity to up-skill your team regularly. The qualification gained lasts three years, (so remember to keep on top of subsequent re-training as needed) and the training is provided by an expert instructor.
